First Person My daughter-in-law, Natalie Leduc, recalls with great enthusiasm her day in the sun as a "princess" at the 1950 Saranac lake Winter Carnival. His Eminence, the bishop who crowned the king and queen of that extravaganza was no other than Noah John Rondeau -- retired Hermit of Cold River Flow!
During the following years the hermit was experiencing increasingly unpleasant stomach problems that continued to become more serious. Nevertheless he managed to accept and appear at many Adirondack Fall outings. I saw him there five or six times and never failed to notice that he always attracted a long waiting line of people who eagerly awaited an opportunity to greet and make an obvious fuss over the smiling, joking and neatly groomed old codger. - Maitland C.
